We made it to Three Forks, MT which is considered the headwaters of the Missouri River.  The three river forks are the Madison, Jefferson and Gallatin Rivers.  I did not do a good Job of picking a campground.  The campground is an old KOA so the sites are tight as are the roads.  Wi-Fi is weak and only two bars on Verizon so not much internet.

Saturday, we drove up to Yellowstone National Park.  Part of the drive was along Earthquake Lake which was formed by an earthquake in 1959.  According to Wikipedia, 28 people were killed in the quake.  Below are pictures of Earthquake Lake and Hebgen Lake.  Hebgen is the larger of the two lakes.

At Yellowstone we drove part of the Park Loup road, stopping at Old Faithful to see the eruption.  We wanted to go to some other areas but the park was so crowded there was no parking at many spots and people were parking on the shoulder of the road and walking a long distance to get in.  Along the way in we saw a flock of geese.  I managed to get a photo of them.  On the way out there was a heard of Elks on the other side of the river.  People were parking, illegally, to stop and photograph the Elk.  When we were stopped in traffic some idiot walked across the road, not even looking to see if there was any traffic.  We just missed hitting him.  Below, are some pictures from Yellowstone, to include Old Faithful.

One thing I have not mentioned is the abundance of wildflowers.  We saw a lot of wildflowers beside the roads in the South, but they were gone as we drove North.  Now that we are in the North, we again have loads of wildflowers, more Mustard than anything else.  When we were driving to Glacier National Park, we saw large fields of Canola.  The only reason I know it was Canola is that at one farm a sign had been placed beside the road identifying what was growing.  On our drive to Yellowstone we saw an old log cabin with a sod roof.  There were what appears to be informational signs near the cabin, but the area was marked no trespassing so I did not get to read the signs.

Next it is on to Miles City, MT.
