South Dakota to Wyoming

Not a lot has happened since my last post.  Did one more day of the tourist thing and took a ride on the 1800 train.  Unfortunately, the steam engine was down for maintenance so the engine was a diesel-electric.  Nice ride.  About 12 miles.  The time was about an hour.  Along the way we saw some dear, wile turkeys and ducks.  Below are some pictures. Our first stop after the Rapid City area was Casper Read more…

Touring in the Rapid City area

Friday, we went to Bear Country USA.  It is an interesting place.  There are two parts.  The first is a drive through where the animals are free to roam within their enclosures.  You drive through this part doors locked and the windows up.  There were a number of different animals, and I am guessing over 30 bears.  The second part is more like a conventional zoo where you walk around and look at the animal Read more…

Mitchell, NE to Rapid City, SD

The drive from Mitchell, SD to Rapid City, the actual location is Piedmont, SD which is just West of Rapid City, was long and tiring.  We are staying at a rather rustic campground, but the rates are very good.  It is right next to I-90 so there is a lot of traffic noise.  Yesterday, Becky’s Birthday, we started the day by driving 60 miles to Wall Drug.  It was a total bust.  We had planned Read more…

Kansas to Mitchell, SD

We left Wichita on Saturday, 6/1.  It was a long boring drive to Waco, NE.  Diesel prices are outrageous.  We had to pay $3.099 in Waco.  The cheapest we have seen is $2.840.  I do not remember where that was.  In Waco we stayed at the Double Nickle Campground.  The Campground is right next to I-80 so there was lots of traffic noise.  The only problem we had was the GPS took us to a Read more…

Ruston to Kansas

We headed out of Ruston to Hot Springs, AR.  We wanted go to Little Rock, but all the parks were booked for the Memorial Day Weekend.  We managed to get reservations at the Leisure Landing Campground in Hot Springs.  We only stayed one full day so we did not see much.  We did get to the botanical garden which was very nice.  Below are some pictures Our next stop was at the Downstream Casino campground.  Read more…

Vicksburg to Ruston, LA

It has been awhile since I posted anything, so I will try to catch up.  Part of the reason is that many of the campground have poor wi-fi and our Verizon jetpack with unlimited data is being “managed” to the point where it is not usable. On our last day in Vicksburg we went to the Coca Cola museum.  This is not where Coke originated, but rather where it was first bottled.  It is a Read more…

Vicksburg

We finally left FL.  We were supposed to be in Milton for four days.  We ended up staying for almost a month due to doctor and vet appointments.  The good news is that the visits were all good news, except for Freckles who had to have a tooth removed.  Right before we left, we found a local fruit and vegetable stand.  They had ripe picked peaches and tomatoes.  We bought both.  The peaches had to Read more…

Greetings.  I thought I would update you on or travel since retirement.  We left Mesa on March 3 heading for FL on I-10.  We made a six day stop in New Orleans.  We stayed near the French Quarter in a RV “Resort”.  We had a number of very good meals there, but no Antione’s this trip.  We arrived in FL on 3/13.  We stayed at the KOA in Milton.  Milton is about 30 minutes East Read more…
