We made the drive to Salem, CT with no problems. We are staying at the Witch Meadow Lake Campground in Salem. The trip was not too bad, but it appears there are no rest stops with restrooms along I95 in MA or RI. As we approached the NH state line going South on I95 there was a huge sign advising that the next turnoff led to a NH Liquor Store and Lottery Sales store. The store is right next to the freeway and is the biggest liquor store I have ever seen. It looked like a grocery store and had easy on and off ramps. I do not know, but I strongly suspect, the reason for the stores is that MA probably has a high liquor tax.
Yesterday, we drove to Clinton where I finally got my lobster roll at Lobster Landing, the same place I had my first lobster roll four years ago. After eating we went to Hartford, CT to see the Mark Twain House. Interior photos were not allowed, but I did get some exterior shots. The Mark Twain House is right next to the Harriette Beecher Stowe House. We did not tour her home as we were tired of walking.
Driving here in CT is interesting. It seems a number of drivers treat stop signs as suggestions, not orders.
Below is a picture of my lobster roll and pictures of the exterior of the Mark Twain Home and Museum and Carriage House And the Harriette Beecher Stowe Carriage House/Visitors Center.
