The Safe-T-Steer Plus was installed at Charlie’s in Sunset, UT.  Safe-T-Steer is designed to help control a vehicle in the event of a blow out. It uses hydraulic cylinders to help keep the steering tires straight if a blow out happens. They also help in heavy winds by doing the same thing. We also had the engine compartment door fixed as it was coming apart.  The Safe-T-Steer was put to use the day we left.  Once on the freeway trucks started passing us as we travel at 60 MPH.  Usually I could tell a truck was passing due to being shoved over by the air pressure.  No more.  The unit stayed straight.  Later in the day the wind started really blowing.  20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH.  The steering was easy and I was not as tired when I arrived at our campsite.

We went into town to get something to eat and planned to finish setting up when we got back.  Unfortunately, we were not given the type of site we had paid for.  We booked and paid for a site with full hook ups. We did not have a sewer hook up so no laundry and no showers. I went to the office the next day and was basically told tough.  They did agree to reimburse the overcharge but would not agree to reimburse us for the next day when I said we were leaving.  I cannot help but wonder how many times this goes on with this campground.  I was also told they have a no refund.  The real manager called after Becky posted an honest review of the park.  Finally agree to refund the full price of our stay, however, her math skills leave a lot to be desired.  We ended up $34 short of a full refund.

Despite the problems with the park, we did do the tourist thing for a day.  We visited the bridge over the Snake river and watched several base jumpers jump off the bridge.  We then visited Shoshone Falls and the Hagerman Fossil beds.  They have a neat visitor’s center and a short DVD of the history of the area.  Below are some of the pictures.

Our next stop was La Grande, OR.  On the way we were delayed for about an hour for a bad wreck in Boise, ID.  Five vehicles were involved, but no one was killed.  Below is a photo showing how it looked when we were stopped.  My guess is that the accident happened about one minute before we arrived.  We used the time to eat our lunch so we were able to make up some time by not stopping for lunch.

We are staying at the Hot Springs RV park in La Grande, Oregon.  They have a sitting pool that is fed by a hot spring, after the water is treated a little.  We are going to try that out later today.  Below is a sign next to the creek in the camp.  I am not certain what type of fish live in 165-degree water.

Wednesday, we are off to Vancouver, WA.
