Greetings.  I thought I would update you on or travel since retirement.  We left Mesa on March 3 heading for FL on I-10.  We made a six day stop in New Orleans.  We stayed near the French Quarter in a RV “Resort”.  We had a number of very good meals there, but no Antione’s this trip.  We arrived in FL on 3/13.  We stayed at the KOA in Milton.  Milton is about 30 minutes East of Pensacola on I-10.  We were able to get long term reservations in the park we want to stay in for the Winter.  I have been calling for six months and there was never a vacancy.  We took a chance and drove to the park.  We were amazed to find out that one tenant had left the day before.  We rented the park on the spot.  The lot rent is very reasonable and below what I had budgeted, which is a good thing because our expenses have been higher than anticipated.  We also have registered our cars in FL and registered to vote, so we are now citizens of FL.

On April 1 we left Milton for the Alfa Owners Club Rally in Fredericksburg, TX.  On our last stop before arriving at the rally our rear bedroom slide would not come in using the slide motor.  As the result I had to crank it in by hand and then crank it out by hand.  Not an easy process!  Fortunately for us there are some really great people here to help me and the problem was soon diagnosed as a lose wire.  Once that was fixed it appears, we will be good to go.  We will find our Saturday if that was the only problem.

Fredericksburg is in the heart of the Texas wine country.  Unfortunately, we did not have time to tour any as we have been busy attending seminars on our unit.  Fredericksburg was founded by German emigrants, to the German influence is strong.  There are a lot of old stone buildings that are still in use, and, of course, some German restaurants.  We have tried a couple with mixed results.    Fredericksburg is also known for its peaches.  Unfortunately, we are too early for fresh peaches.

Saturday it’s time to head back to FL.  We are planning a two day stop in LA as when we were there before we found head off Colossal fresh shrimp for $4.99 pound in a grocery store.  We had no room in either freezer, we had already stuffed four packs of crawdad tails in there.  We now have a little room, and if the price is the same, we will buy several pounds.  In FL we will be seeing our new doctors and getting ready to hit the road again.  I have no idea when I will be writing again.  My good friend Virginia suggested starting a blog.  I am giving that some serious thought, but I do not know if I am ready to commit myself to writing something on a regular basis.  We will see how it goes.

That’s it for now.  Below is a sunset picture or the park we are in.  Our coach is on the right side just to the left of my neighbor’s flags.  There are almost 100 Alfa motor homes here so this is just a few of them
